Ivan R. Sandrea Silva has more than 25 years of experience in the global energy sector, spanning upstream oil and gas, corporate strategy, and investment. He founded and led Westlawn Americas Offshore, building it into a $1.7 billion offshore exploration and production platform within three years, and earlier founded and led Sierra Oil & Gas, Mexico’s leading upstream player, backed by Riverstone, EnCap, and BlackRock. His prior roles include senior and technical positions at EY (Global Energy Practice), Energy Intelligence, Equinor, OPEC, Merrill Lynch, and BP.

He is a trustee of the Energy Policy Research Foundation, active with the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies, and co-founded the Executive Energy MBA at WU Vienna, where he also lectures. He has published more than 20 energy sector studies and has taught at ITAM and other institutions. 

Mr. Sandrea holds a BSc in Geology from Baylor University, an MSc and MBA from the University of Edinburgh, and attended Stanford’s Berkeley Executive Leadership Program. His past board and advisory work includes roles with JX Nippon International, Petra Energia, Pan Andean Resources, Havfram, and Kearney’s Global Business Policy Council.
