Dr. Julia Nesheiwat

Dr. Julia Nesheiwat is an energy and national security expert, U.S. Army combat veteran, and former senior public servant with over 20 years of experience shaping energy security policy. She has served under three U.S. presidents, most recently as Homeland Security Advisor, and previously held roles including Florida’s first Chief Resilience Officer, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Energy, and U.S. Arctic Research Commissioner.
A Bronze Star Medal recipient for her consecutive deployments in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom, Dr. Nesheiwat is also a distinguished fellow and board member at the Atlantic Council’s Global Energy Center. She holds degrees from Stetson University, Georgetown University, and a PhD in Science and Engineering from the Tokyo Institute of Technology. She speaks Arabic and Japanese.
