Dr. Mark Schwartz
Former Head of Platts Analytics, S&P Global Platts

Dr. Mark Schwartz is a senior energy economist with over 40 years of leadership experience spanning global energy markets, strategic forecasting, and policy advisory. He most recently served as Head of Platts Analytics at S&P Global Platts, where he led the integration of three major energy consulting firms and oversaw global energy outlooks presented to public and private sector leaders.

Previously, Dr. Schwartz was President of PIRA Energy Group, advising over 500 global clients on long-term energy trends, market risks, and scenario planning. Earlier in his career, he spent 25 years at ExxonMobil, ultimately serving as Chief Economist, where he led the company’s global energy outlook and strategic planning assumptions.

He has served as an adjunct professor at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, teaching graduate-level courses on oil markets. Dr. Schwartz holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in Economics with distinction from George Washington University.
